Venue:

Tournament:

Macquarie University once again hosted an extremely successful tournament held in the Atrium.  The tournament was a fundraiser for the NSWJCL Special Projects Fund to assist to representative Junior players, and was held in 2 divisions - Primary and Secondary.

Our primary division had a very strong turnout of 123 teams (of 3 players) and our secondary division had 32 teams. The University Chess Challange 2014 was also held at the same time, with 15 players giving us a total of 485 player (some teams had 4 players including a reserve).

There is an enormous amount of organisation and effort involved in planning and arranging all the equipment and entries so on behalf of Sydney Academy of Chess, I would like to thank Macquarie University for providing the fantastic venue. I would also like to thank Vicky Martin as our representative of the Macquarie University Chess Club for liaising with the University staff and organising many of the practical aspects of the running of the event.  Thanks to the many arbiters from the Sydney Academy of Chess. Thanks to Lyn Tindall, Shaun Tindall and Adam Tindall for running the canteen and Eunice Koh for helping them. Finally a thanks to all of the players and parent drivers for making the tournament a big success.

The top 5 scoring teams from each division earned trophies and chess books for their schools and individual medals for the players. Many thanks to Australian Chess Enterprises for donating the books and running the store at the tournament. The winning teams will also have their team names engraved on the Perpetual Trophies in each division.
