Xmas Swiss Chess Challenge 2012

The last major tournament of the year was the Xmas Swiss Chess Challenge 2012 held on Sunday 25th November at the Sydney Latvian Society Club in Strathfield, which attracted 170 players. Two players, Paul Russell and Vincent Jiang, kept their noses ahead of the field from start to finish and ended up tying for first place, each with a score of 7.5 / 8. Paul took the first place trophy, as he had a higher tiebreak score, which means that he played against a stronger field of players. Paul's name will also be engraved on the perpetual cup.
