Format:
This tournament is run as an individual event for Primary schools only. The winning school is determined by adding the 4 highest scorers from each school. Numbers are strictly limited. Each school is limited to a maximum of 10 players. There is no need to rank them by ability, or to assign teams.
This tournament is a 7-round ‘Swiss’ competition. This means that all players play 7 games and no-one is ‘knocked out’ of the tournament.
Time Limit:
Chess clocks will be used in this event. There will be a short demonstration on the use of chess clocks before the start of the tournament. The time limit is 12 minutes per player per game.
Prizes:
Trophies awarded to top scoring players: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Trophies awarded to top 3 placed schools.
All participants receive an electronic certificate of participation.
The top 3 schools qualify for the Regional Semi-Finals, to be held in Term 3.
To Enter (group entry):
Each school that enters the competition must first reserve a number of players (maximum 10) by emailing timetable.sydneyacademy@gmail.com as the numbers are strictly limited.
Once approved by email reply, please fill in the spreadsheet attached below and return it to us by emailing your entry to info@sydneyacademyofchess.com.au
To ensure your school’s place in the competition, please enter by Tuesday 10th June.
To Enter (individual entry):
Make sure you ask the school for permission to participate. If you are given the approval, please go to our payment website: https://sydneyacademyofchess.com.au/payment and enter the code: PVQK2FAL09 then fill in your child's details including their school name on the "Notes" section. To ensure your child’s place in the competition, please enter by Tuesday 10th June.
No entries will be accepted on the day of the tournament.
